No need to wait for a character to be featured to send in those ideas! Get 'em in while they're still fresh in your mind! All submitted ideas are archived and saved for future possible use!
Besides that, if I get enough ideas in for any particular character, that will definitely influence who gets featured next! So lobby all your fellow Falafel fans to swamp me with ideas if you want to see him on the next Garden of the Gods Unofficial Magazine cover!
The more ideas you submit, the better the chance you have of winning! (Like, duh! <g>) The selected captions are not drawn randomly. Myself, and perhaps one or two other trusted advisors who are well versed on the featured characters, select them.
We are going for funny here, guys! The more ROTFL (Roll On The Floor Laughing) they are, the better the chance you have of getting picked! Oh, and this is a PG-13 site so, well... you get the idea! Besides, if I ever get the chance to hand these covers over to the actors, I don't want to be so embarrassed that they'll think I have a really bad case of sunburn, if you know what I mean! After all, a girl can't be too careful with her skin these days. I preserve my delicate complexion by sticking pretty much to my cave and blushing would be a dead give away!
Every cover will have from 5 to 7 captions, depending on space. Occasionally, I may also need cover photos. Anyone who has a caption or photo that is used on the finished cover will receive a 8x10 glossy of the cover. Sometimes, a single person may have more than one caption selected, and, if that occurs, they have the option of receiving one cover for each idea - they may receive duplicates of the cover on which it appears, or, they may 'trade' for any of the other covers. I have had people win two and even three covers on one contest alone!
I make every effort I can to get these to the actors, going through fan clubs, etc. I personally have handed the Herc, Cupid, and Strife covers to the actors. Kevin Sorbo even sent me a letter thanking me for it and telling me that he intended to download and print the other covers 'downunder'! Bruce "Autolycus" Campbell emailed me personally, asking me to mail him his cover! Joel "Strife"Tobeck requested copies so that he could autograph the and sell them at an aution for chartity! Think how exciting it would be to know that the actors actually read your captions! These covers give us, as fans, a chance to give back to the actors a little of the immense pleasure that they have given to us all over the years. And the contest winners also have the extra enjoyment of knowing that the covers I send to the actors all have the caption credits with their email addy's printed on the back.
